Blog Post #4: Two New Incredible Boards of Canada songs: "Introit" and "Prophecy at 1420Mhz"!!
today, folks, we have been granted access to two new Boards of Canada tracks from the compound, the first two tracks from their upcoming album "Inferno" being released later this month!
"Introit" and "Prophecy at 1420MHz".
and... wow... i can't believe what i'm hearing here.
these two new tracks have absolutely shattered my expectations.
"Introit" begins with this little synthy lead thing, idk how to explain it, that feels very cozy and awesome. the texture on it is amazing and satisfying. and i love how the video has the Boards of Canada logo come in like that along to this track. (the video in general is perfection too, perfectly matches the music!) they really got the vibes 100% down of an old TV program starting up, which doesn't surprise me in the slightest, since those kinda things are one of their main inspirations for their sound.
and then we have "Prophecy at 1420MHz". i've listened to this song about seven times now and i already feel like i can write an entire book about how this song is SO good!
but before we do that, i just want to quickly mention some things i wrote about in my blog post when the album got announced... the main things i predicted for this album is that it would have "a more bolder, in-your-face feeling" with "crazy drums and intense moments".
and would you look at that. THE DRUMS ON THIS TRACK ARE HITTING SO INSANELY HARD!!!! literally, the beat drop on this new song might be one of the hardest ones they've EVER made!!!!!!! it literally feels like they read my mind. AND, i also talked about me reading how there were gonna be lots of vocal samples here as well, and, again, would you look at that. there's an insane sample on this song of this guy literally saying that he's God. wow.
and we need to talk about the beginning and end of these tracks as well. the track starts with this really psychedelic sounding... instrument. i honestly don't know what it's called, like some sort of exotic flute instrument? idk! but i absolutely love it, it makes me start floating a little before the song starts, it feels very divine. and then the last 2 or so minutes of the track are very soft compared to the main part, and it has some very comfy, warm synths that create a really beautiful atmosphere. i love it so much.
oh yeah and how could i forget! THOSE GUITARS!!! i was so happy when i first heard them BLAST into this track, because i love how they incorporated guitars into the sound of The Campfire Headphase and the Random 35 Tracks Tape, so now that this album is gonna have guitars on it too, i am incredibly excited to see how the rest of the tracks will incorporate this into their sound. i also love how dark and gothic and reverb-laced they are. i showed a snippet of the song with the guitars to my dad, and he said it reminded him of The Cure and The Jesus and Mary Chain. and...i just think that's insane that these connections can even be made with this sound they're going for here. i adore it!
oh and btw my dad has been playing BoC NON-STOP lately! i heard him playing them one day and i asked him, "hey, is that my music?" and he was like, "yeah, i've been listening to them all day!" ... so... wow. i'm glad that he enjoys their sound :) and, i have to admit, their music is really addictive so i get him playing them all day. like, lately, i feel like all i've been listening to is Old Tunes Vol. 1 and 2. someone on last.fm commented that they must've laced crack into it or something and i have to agree with them.
so... yeah. the brothers have really amazed me with this new track. it honestly might be in my top 5 favorite Boards of Canada songs already, AND WE STILL HAVE 60 MORE MINUTES not yet heard from this new album!!!! AHHHHHHHHH i think i'm gonna faint like a crazy fangirl right now, because i honestly can't believe how good this new song is. this is everything i could've wanted and more. my excitement for this new album is going off the charts, and if the rest of the tracks on the album continue in this direction... this could have the potential of being my new favorite Boards of Canada album (or at least on the same level as MHTRTC), i can feel it!
so yeah that's my thoughts about the 2 new boards of canada tracks :) eeeee yay
but before i go i also want to say that i listened to Geogaddi last night again, and it... was extremely surreal. i don't know, i just feel like i "felt" it more last night if that makes sense. like every single texture was just cutting deep into me. for a lot of it i kept on saying to myself how it felt like that album shouldn't even exist, like it was some sorta anomaly someone found in the bottom of a ditch built by aliens idk. just craziness. anyways yeah that's it for now bye
